Yup.....I did.....
Well, it's Saturday, August 16, and we just got back from taking Ben to college : ( and if you're wondering...yup...I cried....again....I told myself that I wouldn't this year, I mean, c'mon..it's his second year there, I cried enough last year. I was OK until push came to shove and we really had to leave...I even bit my lip (that does work, however, I may cry now because it really does hurt and I'm sure I'll end up with a canker sore there or something now!). We stopped at Wendy's on our way back and just the mention of Ben brought the tears to my eyes again, I just couldn't help it, it's not like I'm WILLING myself to cry (even now...yeah...tears again) I think his excitement about going to college is about as strong as my angst *sigh*, I guess I'll have to start some heavy duty baking to get myself through it...maybe I'll even get that coveted invite to be his friend...muwahahahaha.....eh, I'll just bake and mail because I miss him! (I'll work on the invite later when it comes time to make cookies for the whole CMU marching band again ;) )
So yeah, picked blueberries and now we have to...hey, wait a minute....'we' have to!?!?!?! "I" have to get busy making jam...I've procrastinated long enough, it has to get done...*day dreaming...a bike ride sure sounds nice right now*...OYE! I just have to get my butt out there and DO IT! I think I'll start with a blueberry pie, then I'll feel a real sense of accomplishment which will spur me on to do other things...*snickering* I almost had myself convinced that I would actually be productive...but I really am going to sneak away and spend time with Whitney later...she's not a bike, she's got more 'horse' power than a bike! Yeah, real productive!
Oh yes, while we were on the road I got a phone call from Alex, who was watching the two youngest child_units, wondering how to clean up puke. Yes...I sat there for a few seconds with that blank stare before rolling my eyes and asking, "Who's sick?" I seems that D went out to the garage and saw that the cat had puked on the floor....yes, in the garage...D then came BACK INTO the house to puke on the computer chair and floor....why? WHY!? Why couldn't he just go OUT THE GARAGE DOOR TO PUKE!?!?!?!?!?! That's the point where I'm sitting in the truck with that blank expression on my face and that slow shaking of the head (there 'could' have been a hand to the forehead too, who knows). If you're a parental_unit..you know this expression well. I guess we have to feel fairly lucky, we got new carpeting a year ago this past May and there's been no mishaps on it at all, so, all in all I think we did pretty good considering all the people and all the food that's consumed throughout the house.
The blueberries are on the table staring at me now, I guess I should go and put them out of their misery :)
Y'all enjoy the remnants of summer,
Love Ya :)
