Summer Days
Speaking of summer days...WHERE ARE THEY!?!?! I do believe that this has been one of the coldest summers of my life! Now it's August and we're finally getting some warmer days, but the rain follows the heat. It's really been a bad summer for the farmers too *sigh*, what can ya do?
Ben has already left to go back to college, seems to me it's a month too soon :( I miss him already!
Alex has had an amazing summer so far, he and a couple of his friends actually took off and went on a cross country vacation. They went as far west as San Francisco, which they didn't particularly like. They did love the ocean and the Redwoods though. I, personally, think Alex enjoyed Minnesota the most though ;) They're back now and back to work out in the fields baling hay and straw. Fun, fun.
The youngest three kept me pretty busy for the first part of their summer vacation with baseball and softball. Em's team actually won the championship! Woooooo!!!! Now, we're all just kind of hanging out, reading quite a bit too.
I had a death in my household very recently, my loving oven died, it was a good, good friend to me (practically related) for many years, but it just got too old and couldn't handle everyday life anymore. Happy to say though, I have a brand new convection oven that I plan to have a very happy and loving relationship with :) It's already off to a good start. (Thank you, Dear) It's pretty funny though...showing you the two things I use the most in my everyday life...I had to get a new stove AND new tires for my truck, hehehehe...yup...that's about it.
I'm pretty excited for my ma, her roommate is finally moving out the middle of this month!!! Perhaps the kids and I may actually get to go and spend a couple of days up there yet this summer! We used to go and spend at least a week with her every summer, but that hasn't happened for a few years. My friend wants us to come over for a BBQ with her and her family, that would be great to do too.
I wonder when we'll be going on our vacation? I can't wait, we'll be heading to Lake Michigan, I've never been further south on the western shoreline than Traverse City. I'm really excited to do some rock picking over there. Yeah, yeah...rock picking...I happen to like it!
Hmmm, I haven't blogged in so long that it seems to have given me some sort of writing block, I know there's a lot that I could blabber on about, but...I'm drawing a blank. Of course, this could be because I've got a couple of kids arguing around me and with me. Ahhhh, that's life!
I think I'll just end here, the prospect of going outside (away from the noise) to read is very enticing at the moment!
