The light at the end of the tunnel

Well, it's Nov. 30th which means that I technically only have 4 days of classes left!!! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I'm pretty much done in Child Psych except for the last (optional 50 bonus point) homework assignment, I do believe that I'll have that done tomorrow. In my Spanish class I don't have to take the final test if I choose not to. He drops one test grade and if we've gotten high enough grades and are happy with our grades as they are, we don't have to take the last test. I, however, think I will take it, what harm can it do? On my last 3 tests I've gotten 2 A's and a B, if I score lower than a B then he'll drop it, if I get another A that would be cool! We do have an oral exam in there that is required, but that one is pretty much a no brainer. And then there's math. I had a test in there today and I'm not quite sure how I did, I can't even say with confidence that I did well. I hate math, did you know that? We have one more test in there...."The Final" I'm scared about that one, it's gonna take a lot of brain power to remember everything that we've done in there this semester....how scary!

Enough about school. Well ok, enough about my school. Yesterday was the final day for my child_units to do their audition tapes for All-Star band. Needless to say, if it was the last day for them, it was the last day for the other band_units. I feel sorry for Mrs. Gordon, I'm sure she was there till quite late while everyone took their turns recording their pieces. After all that anxiety, they didn't even have to wait very long to find out what "chairs" they got. Emily got first chair sax again for the second year in a row. Alex got 5th chair trumpet, this was his first year trying out. Ross worked with him a little bit and told him he could have been first chair had he practiced, but, Alex being Alex didn't see the need to practice. He's fine though with how it all turned out. Ben.....Ben, Ben, Ben.....he was so hoping to beat out Joel for first chair trombone, however, someone else beat BOTH him and Joel for first chair. Ben ended up with 3rd chair and Joel with 2nd. I sure hope it wasn't the stalker!!! Rumor has it that the stalker moved away though, I guess I'll have to wait a couple of months to find out who beat the two of them. It's kinda sad though because for the past couple of years Ben and Joel have been first and second chair. Oh well.....I'm VERY proud of all of them!!!

I guess that I'm gonna go for now, I really only came online to check the weather but figured I would update a little bit so nobody would think I've gotten lost. Snow for the next couple of days by the way....windy too, and cold!!

Y'all pull out your parkas!!
Love Ya :)

Black Friday

Whew, we survived Thanksgiving!!! The only bit of leftovers we got to bring home though was a whole pumpkin pie and a few dinner rolls. I don't think that's too awful bad considering how many people were there in that LITTLE house!! Ok, here's the head count....our clan consisted of 7 (Jon and Brit didn't come because they didn't want to be late, I think they slept in too late), brother-in-law Ted was there with his 3 kids, brother-in-law Terry was there with his 2 sons AND his ex-wife came too (odd), niece Michelle came with her boyfriend and their 8 month old, BEAUTIFUL baby Breanna...OMG, I was in heaven holding her, she was soooooooooooo sweet!!!! Mother-in-law and her hubby of course were there since it was at their house ;). Sis-in-law Lynette and her hubby, Terry, showed up too with their tribe of 6.

The evening was quite normal as far as large family gatherings go. That is, until later in the evening, Christen went over to gramma and told her that her foot got wet on her bed, (gramma has a waterbed) it seems that the capacity for a waterbed is not condusive with the amount of grandkids that were on it. YES, the bed sprung a leak. That did cause quite a bit of excitement!!! I think that Dale was not too happy with this turn of events, Virginia however didn't seem to think it was too big of a tragedy, she was surprised that it didn't happen sooner.

Now, getting to Black Friday. Last night I felt ambitious to get up early and go hit the stores and get some incredible deals. Well, I was awake at 5:45, looked at the clock, rolled over and went back to sleep until 8:15. I then got up, got Ben up and went to get Em, but she was already up and getting ready to go. We only went to WalMart, but there was still a few good deals there. The laptop that I wanted was already sold out. That's not too surprising considering that it was only $398. Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Another deal, another time. Em twisted my arm and made me go to the new McD's for breakfast. You just can't beat a good cholesterol filled breakfast at McD's.

I guess I have to quit for now because it's time to take the child_unit to work. I think I may get a movie to watch this evening too since I'm all alone tonight and can have control of the tv!! WOO HOOO!! hehehe.

Y'all celebrate the day!
Love Ya :)

Anxious Anxiety

Oh my, isn't it just like life....you're cruising along just fine and then...SPEED BUMP!!! Math has been going pretty well, I was actually getting an A- in the class....until....*sigh*...I really envy those who love math. Yes, I know I've said that before but it's true. I've had so much anxiety over the last week and a half about math. I haven't handed in 2 assignments because I just don't understand how to do them. I sit in class and "think" I get it...then I get home....yo no comprende! I stayed after class yesterday and she had me do a few problems on the board. That was really helpful, I liked being able to stand back and take a good look at the problem. I guess I understand a little better now, but I haven't sat down to do my homework yet.

Speaking of homework....I have so much to do before Monday. My Child Psych project is due on monday and I have one more homework assignment due in there. That last assignment isn't really one that I "have" to do. At the beginning of the semester we had 5 assignments, we could skip one if we wanted to. That makes the 5 th assignment a bonus 50 points. Am I gonna take advantage of the 50 points....OH YEAH!!!!!!! We had our final exam in there yesterday which is nice because it wasn't cumulative, it was just over the last 3 chapters. I'm so glad I didn't have to try to remember everything about Freud and Erikson. I also have a nutrition assignment that I have to get working on, that one shouldn't be too hard, it'll just be tough getting together with my case study and get her information about what she ate for 3 days. Figuring all the other stuff shouldn't take too long, but then I have to get it done to leave her enough time to implement my suggestions as far as diet goes and see if she notices any changes before I have to write my paper about it.

I think I'm gonna stop for now because I really want to get going on my math while it's still fresh, or at least "somewhat" fresh in my mind. Not to mention that my puter is driving me nuts, it seems that the typing process isn't going very well here, it's typing very slow, I mean, I'm typing just fine, but it's not keeping up. I really have to get this thing taken in and let them fix it.

Y'all have a Happy Turkey Day,

Love Ya :)

and the sky cried...

Ok, so saying that the sky is crying is a little dramatic, but hey, "it's raining" is so typical. If it were just a few degrees colder we'd be having a blizzard right now. Yup, it's just about that time of year again kids....we're actually supposed to have snow by thursday, although, probably not enough to get the snowmobiles out yet.

In my last blog I said I would explain to you about D's blood test. Last Thursday I took him to the doctor's office here in town, the doc said that his nurse would do a good job of drawing his blood (he's having his blood sugars tested) I had asked if I should take him to the hospital lab because I'm sure they draw blood on more children there. She poked the needle into his left arm, wriggling it around trying to "find" the vein. NO luck there. She then moved to his right arm...poked the needle in, wriggled it around trying to "find" his vein there. NO LUCK again. I was fairly angry at this point. He didn't cry too bad, just big crocodile tears. The nurse there said that she just couldn't find a vein in his arm and I would have to take him to the hospital to get it done.....hmmmmmmmmmm, I swear I asked about this to begin with!!!!! So anyway, we went there this morning, the nurse there was AWESOME!!! It only took her 2 minutes from the time she started talking to him, she got the vein the first try :) D even watched her and didn't get very upset. The funny thing is, she sent him out with a handful of suckers and then she asked what he was having his blood drawn for...the look on her face was priceless, her own daughter has diabetes. She made a comment about how they really should have sugar-less suckers in there. She gave him a bunch of stickers too :)

After the blood ordeal we headed to WalMart :) We bought a fresh pineapple, mango and lemons. Em has the idea that we have to make lemon bars with the lemons, so, I guess we'll probably be baking later. I just want to cut into the pineapple as does Alex. When we finished at WalMart, we headed to G's Pizzeria. One of the waitresses there, Anna, is in my Spanish class, she's very funny, I wish she were in more of my classes.

Well, I just remembered that I have 2 chapters in my math book to get done, some kind of multiplication and division of polynomials and other junk like that. Something to do with perfect squares too. I hate math!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, Sarah, have you seen the video taped version of "Cats"? We're watching it today for the third time :) Em is hooked on Rum-tum-tugger.

Y'all enjoy opening day of rifle season,
Love Ya :)

Inconsistancies

Why in life do we have to have so many inconsistancies? Is it to challenge us to see if we can figure out the truth? Do we have them to make us better people? Or, could it be that they're there to help us discern the true character of a person? Whichever the case may be, I've found them quite useful in deciding how to pursue different avenues in my life. Confused? Yeah, me too!

Well, my eldest child_unit starts his first "real" job tonight!! I'm not saying that his job with Steve this summer doing straw wasn't a "real" job, it just wasn't a paycheck kind of job. I must say that he's extremely excited about all though, I can't say as I blame him though, I was pretty excited when I got my first job as a waitress, and I must say, I made a LOT of $$ in tips. Tips were the best part of the job!! (until you had to claim them as income...phooey.)

By the way, not that any Veterans read my blog, but Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you for all you did for our country. Your sacrafice has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated!

I feel like baking something...does anyone have any suggestions? Emily is on this cookbook kick now, she simply has to read any one she can get her hands on. Her excitement is probably why I feel like baking right now. But then again, I always like to bake so maybe I've finally rubbed off on here.....woo hooooooo!!! AND, it doesn't have anything to do with a sporting event!!! SHE DID GET SOME OF MY GENES!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, an exciting event today... Elementary Awards Program... D got the "Achievement" award for his class (best grades) as did Christen for her class :) (if I were standing here, I would have an arrow pointing at myself with a sign saying **PROUD**) Actually, I got everyone's report cards and the lowest grade was a C+ (I know he'll work hard to bring that up, won't he!?!?!?!)

Have you ever gotten something in your eye but couldn't see anything in there BUT you KNOW it's in there? Well, that happened to me this morning before I even got out of bed. I felt something in my eye, rubbed it, and then couldn't get whatever it was in there out of there. I had to take my van to Tawas so I figured I would go to the vision center at WalMart and see the doc in there. The receptionist lady said that it would on be 20 - 30 min. wait, it turned out to be a 50 min. wait. And wouldn't you know, the minute the doc came out with the other patient whatever was in my eye came out. It's amazing the moment when you realize that it doesn't feel like you have a huge, sharp object in your eye anymore. At least I didn't have to pay $50 :)

Well, I think I may go find some new recipe. Oh, I'll write about D's blood test next time....or should I say D's 2 FAILED ATTEMPTS to blood tests....not a pleased parental_unit was I....D was a trooper though and has to go through this again on Tuesday.

Y'all enjoy some fresh baking today,
Love Ya :)

Phi Theta Kappa

Well, as of friday night, Nov. 4th, I am officially a member of Phi Theta Kappa. What is that you ask? It's the International Honor Society of 2 yr colleges. I know, it's not really that big of a deal, but it's kind of cool in its own way. My whole family went to watch, I know they were pretty bored but it meant a lot that they were there. They do some activities and one that I'm really interested in is going to the Ronald McDonald House to cook for the families that have children in the hospital. I am really blessed that my kids are all healthy and can't wait to help people that need some care. We're also collecting pop can tabs for the Red Cross I do believe, I can't really remember. On top of all that, we have fundraisers, lol, SO, if anyone is interested, I'm selling cookie dough in 3 lb. tubs until the 10th.

Not much else has been going on...my puter is still sick and getting worse I'm afraid. I think on thursday that I'm gonna take it somewhere to get checked out. I just hope that they don't have to reformat it, that would be horrible with all the pics and music that we have stored on there. One can't really save those files in case they've been infected. I just hope that we can find this worm and inject some RAID into it!!!

I got a B+ on my last Spanish test, I had a real problem distinguishing the difference between the "to be" verbs of Estar and Ser. I did great on the map section, only missed an accent on Panamá and he had us draw a picture of a guy that he described, I swear, that guy had multiple personalities, it was a challenge to draw him!! I'm sure I'll do better on the next test anyhow. He throws out one of our test scores anyhow, so I should be good to go. It just dawned on me that he was gonna give us our estimated mid-term grade but he forgot. Hmmmmmm.

Hey Sarah....guess what I'm listening to right now????? Uh huh, yup, you guessed it :) I STILL love Phantom of the Opera!! We watched it again last night....I ended up not getting my Child Psych paper finished until 11:30 because of that movie. I KNEW what was gonna happen, but hey, I guess maybe I thought Christine would come to her senses and stay with the Phantom, but NO, she went with Raoul AGAIN!! Sheesh.

Well folks, I'm hungry, therefore I go to eat. (a healthy lunch of course).

Y'all hug a friend today,
Love Ya :)

Poltergeist?

My puter is possessed!!! I went to check on a blog and all of a sudden there was music coming from the headset!!!! I have nothing running, no bear share, no ect radio...nothing....at least it's country....albeit old country right now...I think I shall keep listening to it to see if maybe I've picked up a radio station somehow. This is really freaky. I think that trojan that's in my puter has taken up complete residency, at least it has good taste in music.

I didn't do too well on my psych test, I got a C. I did go back and talk to him yesterday about one of the essay questions and he ended up giving me another point, but I don't know if that changed my grade any. I did however get 50 points out of 50 on my last homework assignment which was cool! He even wrote "Excellant" on it :) I have another homework assignement due on Monday, I just have to find 2 parents to interview along with their child. The assignment has to do with discipline and how each parent handles it. I don't know who to interview though. I better hurry and find someone!

Well, I registered for classes but I think I'm gonna have to revise my schedule. I don't like the idea of having 14 credit hours. As it is, this is how my schedule looks:
---------------------------
Government 10 - 11:25
Spanish II 12 - 1:55

College Comp II 2 - 3:25
Intermediate Algebra 4 - 5:55
---------------------------
Now honestly, what would someone going for a major in Social Work need with so much math??

Ok, there are people talking now....the guy just said...."when I look at that beautiful woman, it's hard".....OMG, WHERE IS THIS COMING FROM??????????????????? there's like 3 guys, Brad, Jim and (I just forgot his name, lol).

My house smells SOOOOO good right now!! I have a roast with potatoes in the oven and potatoes frying in a pan on the stove. I still need to get some veges cooking, I think I shall make cauliflower or broccoli....maybe even both, yummy!!!!

I guess I should go and get supper finished up and a tape in the VCR to tape Survivor....yes, I'm still addicted to Survivor, what can I say??? I don't apologize. Oh, by the way, we may be having a bon fire on saturday night after the Harvest Dinner, let me know if there's any interest and I'll have the fire ready with marshmallows, hershey bars and graham crackers!!

Y'all enjoy our Indian Summer!
Love Ya :)
