Good Things Come......

So yes, good things come to those who wait. Ok, well, good things also come to those who are incredibly spoiled....eh hem, that would be me :)
A little over a week ago Tom came home and wanted to go out and check something at the farm and asked me if I would like to ride along, so sure, anything is better than sitting at the house listening to the child_units fighting!! Well, we had to make a "stop" over at his friends house to check on something first and as we rounded around the back of his barn there was a horse.....the only thing I could think to say was exactly that, "hey, there's a horse." I know Dave doesn't have horses. Tom then told me that she was mine, a late anniversary gift!!!!! She's BEAUTIFUL!! 100% Arabian. Needless to say, I spend a good share of my mornings out with Whitney. (long story on the name) I'll try to post a pic of her soon.

Now, on to more recent activities. This last friday was our school's Homecoming. I was very proud that my eldest child_unit, Ben, was nominated to be on the Homecoming Court. I was even more thrilled when during the half-time events, he was crowned Homecoming King!!!! WOO HOOOOOO! That makes 2 Homecoming Kings in our household. Jon got it his senior year and now Ben....boy, does Alex and D ever have the pressure on them now, hehehe.

Also this past weekend was the Youth Hunt. Alex and Em both went out hunting. Alex wasn't successful this year, but Em shot an awesome 8 point, her first deer!!

Basketball and Football season at school is going by rather quickly, I'm actually finding myself enjoying basketball, but shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone ;) I just don't know how I did everything last year when I was taking classes myself, it just seems like I'm doing so much that I couldn't possibly fit in a 12 credit hour load at school. Amazing.

I guess I should finish up this post, I'm bidding on a movie, Sense and Sensibility, I really need to purchase it, I think I've already rented it enough times at the video store to have purchased it! Sarah, this book and movie is better than Emma, I'm not sure if you've read it already. (Have you finished Emma yet?) I have the whole collection of Jane Austen books, Pride and Prejudice is still my favorite so far, I still have a few others to read yet though.

Y'all Take Care,
Love Ya :)

After a well needed break......

Wow, has it really been 6 months since I last updated?!?!?! So much has happened since then that I'm not quite sure where to start.
School finished (for me), I did very well. I earned a position on the Dean's list, which, I'm sure isn't too great a feat, but the thought of being on that "list" makes me happy none-the-less! I decided not to take classes this fall, I'm really kinda bummed about it but I guess others thought I was too stressed out from homework. I also missed a lot of one of the child_units' games last year so I'm making up for that now.
Speaking of child_units....this summer was hectic! Em broke her ankle during softball practice and she was out for the whole season. She's made a wonderful recovery and well into basketball season now! Her team does very well with 6 of the 14 players on the team. I think there's the hope that she'll be moved up to varsity, but I'm not holding my breath, she should just bide her time where she is and improve her game! There's always next year.
Alex is the starting QB on the JV football team this year, he's doing a GREAT job! Well, ok....so their last game wasn't pretty to watch, we have to remember that the cow-fed farm boys of that other school are VERY big. (We should really infiltrate their school and find out what kind of fertilizer they use on them.) Their (odd, my font has changed, hmmmmm...) anywho, their next game is against a bigger school down in Bay City and they plan a massacre as they did in their first match up with them (55-0). Ahhhhhhh, there, I found my font again...
Next week is Homecoming for our school and with this comes the festivities for the week. I'm not sure how they're gonna be dressing for spirit week, but I'm sure my closet will probably be raided for "Retro" day....AS IF the 80's are retro...sheesh....I always thought that the 60's were retro. Another big deal for homecoming week is the "King and Queen". I'm very proud to say that Ben is a Senior class Homecoming Representative!! WOO HOOOO!!! Did I mention that I was proud????
Mentioning proud, last night was the first night for this year's marching band. They did a fantastic job! Em had a sax solo in "Summer Nights" from Grease. She did AWESOME! I really can't wait for all the different band activities to start up, especially All-Star band, sadly, that isn't until February though :( Solo and Ensemble is going to be great this year too. I won't have to go to 2 different ones since Em is now in high school. I suppose however that she could still go to the Jr. Solo and Ensemble, I'll even be willing to bet that she does! Oh well, it's all good.
I've recently been going horseback riding on Sundays. I really, really love going. The lady that takes me wants me to go up north with her to the horse camp so we can do a longer ride up there, she even mentioned "jumping" over logs....OYE!!! I think I will be very "saddle" sore that day! My first day was great, but it left me sore for a few days. I even pulled the muscle in my calf on my left leg, I couldn't figure out why it hurt so bad, then I realized.....Ahhhhhh, I had to put my foot in the stirrup which was about even with my chest, then hoist MY body up and over that horse!!!! It was definately alllllllllll worth it! The soreness hasn't been so bad with each subsequent ride. I'll have to post a pic sometime of me on the horse...his name is Silver Diver. He's awesome! She, Terry, wants me to ride her Arabian tomorrow, he's not as tall as Diver, but he's a wee bit more spirited! His name is Belvedere, not quite the name I would have thought for an Arabian, but hey, he seems to like it. The people that owned Belvedere before Terry were selling him to a place in Canada that uses horses for dog food. They said that they couldn't control him and that he was a dangerous horse. Mind you, Terry has pics of her grandson standing on the back of this horse, and a pic of him riding him in the river. (not a favorite of horses I guess). I can't wait until Terry gets to help me pick out a horse for myself!
I just realized how long and boring this post is...I guess I should stop for now, perhaps something of more excitement will happen soon.

Y'all get out and enjoy the last couple of days of summer!
Love Ya :)
