A week and counting.....
Well, the graduation celebrations are almost over for our household. In one week, I have to have all the food, decorations and pics planned for Ben's party. Yes, I know, I've had 18 years to plan all of this, but for those of you that know me, procrastination is one of my finer talents! Actually, most of the planning is done, I just can't purchase the last of the food items until later in the week because of storage issues. I've been going through pictures for the past couple of days which has been quite fun. It's amazing just how many pics I have of Christen and Dominic together. She talked for him his first 3 years of life, she might as well be with him in all the pics too!! Maybe he'll be so smart that he'll skip a few grades and just graduate with her :) It really is amazing to look at the pics of Ben through he years...how much he's changed and in some ways, how much he's stayed the same.
Ben and Em left today for Band Camp. I'm sure they'll have a great time. Em, however, found out that she's rooming w/ a couple of girls that she didn't get along with very well last year. One of the girls told her the boundries of what she could touch and what she should'nt touch and what she could use and what she should just use a little of. Em just told her thanks, but she's content with the stuff she brought with her. I'm sure Em will just find other things to do rather than hanging out in the room. I guess the rec room is fun and there's a lot of other things to do there. I can't wait till friday already so that I can go and see them and watch/listen to their concert.
Does anybody want a Nextel phone???? The service we've been getting from Spring/Nextel sure has SUCKED these last few weeks! We keep getting service restricted and system failed messages on our phones when we try to make calls from the house. We've called twice and they've "fixed" the problems, the phones work for less than a day and then it's back to frustrating "no phone" problems again! *sigh*
Sarah will be home in just a couple of months :)
I've just read a couple of books by the author Khaled Hosseini..."The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns". I enjoyed them both very much. It really does make me appreciate where I was born and that I didn't have to suffer the hardships that the people in his native country have had to endure...especially the women! It's sad though, the country over there is so rich with history and traditions, if only the ugliness of war didn't have to strip people of all the good that they know. If only men didn't have to feel the need for power that they do. After reading these books, it really does give me the desire to study more about these countries and their traditions. (let me know if you would like to borrow these books Sarah.)
I've just remembered where I had stashed some pictures, so, I'm going to get going and dig through them.
Y'all have a great Father's Day!
Love Ya :)
