A stormy anticipation

Yes, it's THAT time of year again!!!!!!!! The forecast for tomorrow is thunderstorms! YAY! I seriously can't wait...but, with my luck, the storms will hit while I'm at work..*sigh*..I can always hope though! I simply adore thunderstorms, I love the anticipation of a storm that's building on the horizon, the billowing purple~grey~blue clouds, the smell of the air, the building breeze...ahhhhh, there's nothing like it!

Thursday is "Vince Gill Concert" day!! Wooo hooooo!! I cant' wait! My better half got me (us) tickets to see Vince Gill for Valentines Day...that shows real love there, uh huh! He doesn't really like Vince, he thinks that he sings like a girl..sheesh...(yes, I rolled my eyes too!) I still have a magnet on my fridge from the last Vince concert that I went to, heh, that was a few years ago... I guess we're going to hit the casino before the concert too, hubby promised Ben that he would go with him. Ben was pretty excited about that....I'm pretty excited to see Ben...everyone's happy...well, heh, except the one that doesn't like Vince Gill or casinos :) I'm sure everything will go just fine!

Let me tell you...cafeteria tables are heavy! I don't think they're much good for the lower back either! I still have 2 more days of lifting them this week too. Ugh! Today was such a mess in there with the lil' darlins', it was Chicken Gravy day...apple sauce too...there's one thing about little kids (big ones too), they just don't know how to keep a tray balanced..oh no..they just feel the need to let it tip enough for food to drip and spill off. Yup, mop is close by at all times. Another child today decided to dump her WHOLE tray of food down the front of herself, yes, accidental, seriously..who wants to walk around smelling like an apple covered chicken!?! And who got to clean all that up? Me? Of course! I'm so glad that I had on rubber gloves! Oh yeah..one little (monster) child thought...yeah, 'thought' he would try to start throwing food...this is when the "mother look" comes in handy...he decided against it for his own health ;) OK..while I'm at it, there's this one kid who's mother sends him to school with a cold lunch, that's nice of her, she sends him in with a package of cookies, a granola bar and a lunchable (ham, cheese, nestle's crunch, and choc. chip cookie). How do I know exactly what's in them you ask? Well, when I take out the trash, the lunchable is in there...minus the candy and cookie. Yup, he throws away the good stuff, twice now, the WHOLE LUNCHABLE!!!!! UNOPENED!!!!!!!! **GASP** **eyes bugging out** I started to pay attention to this child last week when I was working and found the first lunchable, then I wandered around the tables and searched him out...same thing everyday...until today. Today, he ate some ham and cheese while I stood there. Yes, I did the motherly thing and lectured him about eating a proper lunch and the cost of the food he's throwing away..hehe, I felt better anyhow! He walked away not looking too happy, perhaps it's because he was on a sugar buzz from all the other junk! Ahhh, I'm all vented out from work duties now :)

I'm still coughing on and off, it really stinks! Mostly now, it's when I do any kind of physical exertion. Heh, yeah, don't say I shouldn't be coughing all too often then, eh! Cold air brings on a fit once in a while too though. I haven't had a wheezing incident in a week or so though, that's nice. I've kinda figured out how to breathe through them so they don't get too bad, if not, I still have my inhaler, but haven't had to use it in a few weeks now. I'll be happy for summer to get here so we can get some widows open for a while to air the house out!

Well, Friday is chaperon day with the band for State solo/ensemble. I'm not quite sure why we have to leave so early, but hey, who am I to complain, I guess if we get lost, I'd rather have daylight hours to find our way :) It's only Manistee, so, shouldn't be too bad. Looks deceiving on the map though, looks like it's a straight shot over that way, but no, there's a stupid little lake that you have to drive out of your way to get around...darn. It's not even on the shore of Lake Michigan either, I was pretty bummed, oh well, I'm already over it.

I guess I should probably get supper going...mmmm, Manwich tonight!! So simple, Christen could make it....hehehehe....now THAT'S a great idea!! Oh, and it's American Idol night!! Yay!

Y'all enjoy the breeze,
Love Ya :)

Let the week begin....

Well, it's Monday...a new week has begun. Along with the new week has come a new week of work, well, at least for the first 3 days anyhow. I had to work all of last week and was only supposed to work this Tuesday, but each day this weekend my boss called and added another day. I'm not too upset about it, it's always nice to get a check :) Working always helps to keep my mind off of things, but, then again, it gives me time to think about things too...hmmmm...bah, my mind runs a mile a minute anyhow wether I'm working or not, lol.

I have to order something for Ben for his birthday, yeah, he's going to be 20 this year. Ya know, it seems to me I may have already mentioned this in a previous post...oh well, it's all good :) I can't say what I'm going to get him though, I seriously doubt he follows my blog, but hey, loose lips sink ships!

Today is also going to be laundry day...I'm out of clean aprons *gasp* yes, it's true....I think I have 10 aprons..or more. I love aprons!!!! My ma is making me another one, I can't wait to see what kind of fabric she chose for it!! I love the Garfield apron she made for me!! C'mon, it's Garfield AND an apron...what's not to love!?!?!

*Sigh*, well, it's time to leave for work, I suppose I should get going...kids to feed, garbage to take out, tables to wipe and put away, cookies to count...on and on...gotta love it!! :)

Y'all go out and enjoy this lovely Spring day!
Love Ya :)

The dog days of winter.

Spring is trying to spring, however, winter just won't let go! Monday was incredibly warm and beautiful, today on the other hand, was windy and COLD! The dog days of winter are still hounding us!

Yes, I know, it's been forever since I last posted, almost exactly 2 months. Oh well, what can I say!?!

I've had to work everyday so far this week and still have to work tomorrow too. I'm not sure, but I think I'll be working next week too. The flu is hitting our school hard right now, I guess there were 41 kids absent on Monday...doesn't seem like a lot of kids, but in our school of just a tad over 400, that's a lot of kids! It must have been the middle school's turn to have a lot of kids missing...it sure was wonderfully peaceful in the cafeteria during their lunch time!! I think my shoulders are getting used to wiping the tables so much, but, my neck is still giving me grief from it all! I can't stand the headaches I have every night, I really should go to the chiropractor, but I might as well wait until I'm not working everyday.

Basketball season is FINALLY over!! You wouldn't know it by the talk that goes on EVERY day in our house, it really is getting old. Hopefully, once baseball/softball/track seasons start, the annoying basketball talk will subside! HA! Who am I trying to kid!?!?! Oh well. Life still goes on.

Hmmm, I just noticed that it's almost 4 PM. One of my classmates from school passed away this past week and his funeral starts in about one minute. I really wish I could have gone to the funeral, but, life happens I suppose. I will keep his wife and their children in my prayers!

I want to sleep, I'm so tired.

How many fundraisers can a person do before they go crazy? I guess I'll let ya know! There have been so many fundraisers lately....soup suppers, bake sales, raffles, wreath sales, sucker sales, candy sales, candle sales...yup, my kids have been involved with all of them. I know, without them, things wouldn't get done, especially with our band! Lord knows that the school doesn't want to chip in and help out the band that represents them so well!!

Speaking of band, there have been a lot of events going on and still going on. Em went to District Solo/Ensemble and scored 1's on all 3 of her events! YAY!! She did a Alto Saxophone solo, a Bari Sax solo and a Saxophone quartet. They all move on to State, which is next weekend in Manistee...hence the fundraisers. We're going the night before since it's so far away and many of the kids have to perform early in the morning. I'm planning to chaperone again, I love to do that!!!!!!!! This past weekend, the band performed in Farwell for District Festival. Both the Jr. and Sr bands scored straight 1's...YAY!!! On to State for them too! I don't know yet when or where the State Festival is...I'm sure it's sometime soon.

Ben is going to be 20 in just a couple of weeks, wow, where did the time go!?! Alex will be graduating in just 2-1/2 months! Time is flying! Speaking of graduation, I have to start sampling different cupcake recipes so I can decide on which ones that I want to make for his party...I'm sure nobody is going to complain about sampling!!! :)

D got glasses, he seems to be adjusting very well and is quite happy to be able to see more clearly! I can't wait for a really starry night, I want to see him 'see' the stars for the first time! I remember seeing leaves the first time when I first got my glasses, it was amazing! Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I saw leaves all my life before I got glasses....but, it was so cool to notice every individual leaf.

I seem to be rambling now, I think I need a nap.

Y'all enjoy the birds of spring!
Love Ya :)
