The Unknown Spots

Being a parental_unit, I pride myself on knowing what's wrong with my child_units when they're sick. But, alas...D threw up at school (again) Friday and needed to be picked up. Since then, he's been running a temp. of about 100.5, not serious by any means, goes down nicely with some Tylenol. Here's the annoying part, I noticed some tiny red spots on his arm when we were practicing the piano, I looked on his belly and there were MANY more of these spots, actually, they're all over his body. I've never seen this variety before. I've seen Fifth's Disease (Em), Chicken Pox (all the rest), and Measles (me). These spots look nothing like any of them. AND OF COURSE, the doctor's offices and clinics are closed for the weekend!!! He's had his Chicken Pox vaccine, but I'm told he could still get a mild case of them. I guess I'll just wait until Monday and see what happens.

I'm looking forward to supper tonight, I used my big roaster to make chicken last week and it turned out FANTASTIC, so I'm gonna make some more for dinner tonight. I bought this roaster about 4 yrs. ago for Jon's grad. party and haven't used it since. On a whim, I took it out and used it last week. I'm sure glad I did!!! I'm now just waiting for the chicken to thaw out the rest of the way ;)

Sarah's home :) I hope we can do something while she's home on break!

Em had her District Band Festival today, they scored a overall One which is fantastic!! I just wish she would enjoy that fact more than does, however, she's angry that she even had to go because she had an AAU Basketball game today. These wouldn't even have conflicted had they played basketball at 5, 7 and 9 like they did the last two weeks! Oh well, she'll get over it eventually. Well.....ok.....she probably won't, this IS Em we're talking about. She's already complaining because she was asked to play in a 3 on 3 tournament next month, but just found out that she has to go to the Science Olympiad. She had signed up for this MONTHS ago, no excuses not to go, prior commitments first! *sigh*

Well hey, I hear some bananas calling me out into the kitchen...they're waiting to be made into bread :) The house is gonna smell so yummy in about 45 minutes!!!

Y'all enjoy the cold weather,
Love Ya :)

OYE!!!

WOW! I just finished taking my first Government test....Oh my goodness! I guess if I had just memorized EVERYTHING in my notes I would have done fantastic, however, this is not the case. I'm holding onto the fact that he grades on a curve, and by the grumblings of people walking in, I don't think that my grade will be too terribly bad. It's not gonna be great mind you, but not failing. (at least I'm hoping!) My testing days aren't finished yet for this week, I still have to come back to the school to take my Spanish test. She gives all her tests in the Testing Center. I guess that's not too bad, she gives us a window of a week to take it in. I was going to go there friday and take it, but alas, the school was closed on account of the weather. I plan to go and take it first thing tomorrow (tuesday) morning.

On my way to school this morning I couldn't help but notice that a lot of other towns got hit pretty hard by the ice storm. There were a LOT of trees down in Linwood, I guess they just got their power back late last night. A lot of people around home are having added difficulties since they got their power back because their pipes froze while the power was out and now they're bursting.....BIG MESS! I'm so thankful that we didn't lose our power!

I'm hungry.

Sarah, when do you have Spring Break? I guess mine is the week of March 6th. I'm sure I'll have some sort of long research paper that I'll have to be working on during the break, isn't that how it always goes?!?! I just wish that I had spring break at the same time as my child-units, we could actually go somewhere, probably just up to Gaylord to visit the relative_units and do some snowmobiling (spousal_unit and child_units anyhow).

Speaking of going somewhere, I'm really, really hoping that I might be able to go to North Carolina in May with my mother-in-law, it would be a duo purpose trip. Some old friends of ours live there now and we want to go and visit them, ALSO, there is a race down there that she always goes to at Lowe's Motor Speedway, it's the NASCAR Nextel All Star Challenge. Her hubby HATES going to this race so we figured that if we went together that it would be wonderful!! I just don't know how someone could actually hate going to a race....but it's not just the race, it's a whole event! I really hope that I can go. It would be a wonderful birthday gift (hint, hint), I've even had an offer of someone picking the child_units up after school for me the few (school) days that I'm gone, what more could I ask for :)

I guess I should be going, I have to get to my Spanish class.

Y'all think "NASCAR" for me,
Love Ya :)

Wow, it's been a while!

I can't believe it's been close to a month since I've updated! Time flies when you're having fun....or doing homework.....or going to basketball games...well, you get the idea.

Where to begin...how about the weather?!?! Can we say SUCKY! It has been, by far, the mildest winter I've ever seen, that is until Wednesday and Thursday when we got hit by a lovely ice storm. It was supposed to be a lot of snow, but ended up being slush and ice. A lot of people are without electricity yet today, I don't think they're supposed to get it back until tomorrow night sometime. I must say, the trees look beautiful though, even today still.

The 2 two youngest child_units sure are having fun skating. I'm glad that it's finally getting cold enough to freeze, it's the first time since the first part of December that it's been cold enough. They're relentless in bugging Steve to take them out there, but, it is his fault too because he's been telling them he would take them.

I'm still loving my classes...however, my Government class is getting to a hard part...yes...it's test time. I swear, you have to be some sort of law student to actually understand half of what he discusses and to understand the Constitution itself! I wonder if they've written a book yet, "The Constitution for Dummies"? I sure could use it for studying for this test! At least he told us what essay questions were gonna be on there, we only have to choose one of them. I guess we're expected to go into full detail though since we only have to do one. I also have to take my Spanish test sometime before tuesday night. I was hoping to go yesterday and take it, but the storm made that a little impossible. I don't think any school, or college for that matter, was open.

I just realized how hungry I am, I guess I better go and get supper ready....I think it's gonna be tacos tonight, although, spaghetti sounds good too. Decisions, decisions.

Y'all be safe,
Love Ya :)
