Baseball, Basketball, Band...OH MY!

OK, OK, Here I am, updating....I don't wanna get TP'd or Qtipped (again) for not updating. lol.

What can I say, Floriday was wonderful! I even brought a friend home with me, his name was Demon. When I got down to Florida, the first thing my mother-in-law and I did was went for a walk. On this walk we noticed some rather large, squished, bugs. I'm telling you, there should be leash laws for these things!!!!!!! Well, being the loving parental unit that I am, I knew imediately that Alex just HAD to have one of these bugs :) When Virginia and I got back to the hotel we talked to the Valets that were on duty about these rather large bugs. They didn't know what they were other than hideous, disgusting, large, gross, and the list went on. With a little bribery of chocolate, they agreed to capture one for me, I told them that I would prefer it dead. The next day when we came back to the hotel from the convention one of the valets asked if we got "them"....we said "them?", they pulled out a gatorade bottle with a styrofoam cup on top of it acting as a "lid with a bunch of airholes." On the side of the cup simply read....."Demon and friends" Inside the bottle were 3 creatures...one a spider, 2nd a worm of some sort, and 3rd was Demon himself, a rather large, at least 3 some inch "bug". We quickly smuggled it up to our room and had to keep it hidden from the housekeepers so that they wouldn't turn us in for some sort of treason of bug smuggling. (mind you, this was Thursday and we were there till Sunday) The valets kindly gave me a lid for the bottle so that I could let the thing die before I brought it home. Sunday morning however came and Demon was the lone survivor in that bottle, so, I gave him a bath and cleaned out the bottle then wrapped him sufficiently in a couple of plastic bags and he was packed for the trip home. By the way....Demon was a Palmetto bug. I'm sorry also to announce that he died his 2nd day in Michigan.....THANK GOD!!! Alex was impressed too I do believe. The valets didn't believe that I actually packed him to bring him home, so we took pics and I will be sending them one :)

Now, on too the topic of the day....Baseball AND Softball are thankfully almost done for the summer. It was a long season if you ask me. Alex and Em both made it onto the All-Star team, so that means a few more games. Today was Em's last day of Basketball camp up in Tawas too. She was pretty bummed because she didn't make it on the "Hustle Team" of course she "knew" she was better than at least "one" of the girls that did make it. It was pretty fishy too that ALL the girls that made the hustle team were ALL from Tawas. But, that's ok, she did go to learn, and I think she did just that! Alex's basketball camp was 2 weeks ago, I'm not sure if he really like it or not, his last 2 days of it were while I was gone to Florida. NOW it's time for band, which is SPLENDID!! I can't wait to listen to their concerts. Em is pretty excited too for the fact that Mrs. Gordon asked if she would like to play with them this summer. They're short on Alto Sax and she thought that Em could fill in nicely. I'm proud for sure! I hope Alex puts forth some extra effort considering that I picked up his brand new trumpet!! The one that we thought he would get wasn't there, it was a used Bach, so, she went to the cupboard and pulled out a brand new one for the SAME price!! WOO HOOO!!! Did I mention that I love band?

Well, one more thing...Bon Fire on Sunday the 3rd of July....I think I have enough s'more making material to feed part of an army too. It's all good :) I think someone will owe me though.....You know who you are ;)

I'm tired and feeling a little out of sorts so I think I'm gonna go and lay down for a while. BTW, Columbus is the 13th - 17th. Cedar Point should be shortly thereafter, but we really have to let Norma know soon! Head count PLEASE!!!!!

Take Care Y'all
Love ya :)

To Be A Lobster

Well, it's almost 9 AM Monday morning and I'm BURNT! We went to Alex's baseball game yesterday afternoon and wanted to work on a little base sunning before I leave for Tampa. Well, I got a little too much base. I think if an ant crawled on my arm or chest it would hurt!!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! 2 days and I'm gone!! Woo Hooooo, I can't wait to fly, I can't wait to get to Florida! I'm sure it's gonna be a wonderful time down there too, especially now since Arlene has left the area. As of this morning, it's raining here and they said that it's the remnants of Arlene, so I guess I didn't escape her altogether.

These next two days are going to be full of running around. Emily has basketball camp this week from 8:30 AM till noon, Alex has to be up in Tawas for his basketball camp from 11 - 1:30. I guess that means I get to go to Walmart :) Laundry has to be done sometime in all this running. Both Alex and Em have baseball games tonight. I still have to pack...whew, vacation sure is a lot of work, lol.

Wow, my brain is either too tired or too burnt to think of anything else to write. I think I'm gonna go for now, maybe I'll write more later.

Y'all take care,
Love ya :)

Smile

The true author of this quote is unknown, but I like it and wanted to share it with you.

If I could reach up and hold a star for everytime you made me smile,
the entire sky would be in the palm of my hand.
:)
Love y'all!

Thoughts of School

Well, as far as kids go, summer is in FULL swing! As far as mosquitos go, summer sucks! (literally).

I've been out of school for one month and 13 days and I can't believe how much I'm missing it. I sit here everyday and look at the college website, thinking about my classes for the fall. (Aug. 29th to be exact). I was very excited the day before yesterday after I got the mail. I got a card from Delta congratulating me for making it on the Vice President's List....I was very excited about that considering that I did rather bad in one of my classes. I am however struggling with the idea of taking another math class this fall. I looked a little more closely at the requirements paper for an Associates in the Arts degree and was VERY saddened to see that I have to have 2 math credits and the math that I just took this last semester doesn't meet the requirement. *sigh* I really hate math! It looks as though I'm going to have to miss one semester of Sign Language, that really bums me out, I'm afraid that I'm going to forget so much, I know that I've already forgotten a lot of little signs since I've been out of school. This isn't my choice by the way for not taking ASL 3 (American Sign Language 3), it just happens that not enough people took ASL 2 to warrant a section 3. It looks like there's more than enough people taking it this summer that they'll offer it in the winter semester. At least I hope so!!!!!!!! I guess I'll be taking Spanish, Child Psychology, a Nutrition class and Algebra(blech!!). I really can't wait to get into the Child Psych class, I really enjoyed my last Psych class. I think in the winter semester that I'll take Abnormal Psych, that should be REALLY interesting! I would highly recommend for anyone in college to try to take a Sociology class too, they're quite fun and a lot of what you do in there is reflected in Psych, helped a lot!

OK...Tuesday night was quite enjoyable, I went out at 7 pm and started a fire in hopes that some people would show up for S'mores and hotdogs later on. Well, people showed up and it was wonderful! I have to admit that next time I am going to have to put my foot down and be sure that Christen and Dominic will HAVE to be in the house NO later than 9:30 - 10. I know they like to have fun and with so many people around it's hard to not get a little excited, but a bunch of teenagers don't like to have little kids around. I just hope that my presence wasn't too imposing. The game of hide and seek tag in the dark was REALLY fun! Ben and the boys have been playing this game for a few years now and I've always abstained from participating. HOWEVER, Tuesday night I had the opportunity to play and so with the "Deathgrip" on my hand, I went bravely out into the woods to try to find the other group. After everyone was found it was our turn to hide. I teamed up with Emily and her friend Brandi. We quickly went into the woods and alond the ditchbank. Now, did any of you realize that crab apple trees have thorns? This is one thing that I DID know, but, in the pitch of darkness, this fact becomes a little blind, especially when you didn't know that there was a happy little youthful crab apple tree growing, and it was FULL of thorns! My leg still has the evidence of this. I'm happy to say though, that I beat the youthful "seekers" back to the safe spot of the porch!!!! I AM PARENTAL UNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. I can't wait until the next bon-fire!

I do believe that I'm going to leave this blog now, it's already quite long. I do believe also that a trip to Wally World is on the agenda for today. I have a few things that I have to purchase yet for my trip to Tampa, which btw, I leave for in 6 days, WOO HOOOOO!!!!!!

Y'all take care,
Love ya :)

2 More Days...

Wow, another school year has passed by. There are only 2 more days of school left, only one for D. Next year all of the kids will be in school all day, it's kind of sad to think that I'll have no kids at home all day, all through the week. It makes me a little sad, no more babies at home. Hmmmmm, I think I'll cope though ;)Next year, D will be a first grader, Christen in 3rd, Emily in 8th, Alex in 9th, and Ben in 11th....Amazing, in 2 years I'll be planning another graduation party. I wonder if I make it through math and actually get a degree if I'll get to have a party?? hmmmm, I could think of a great graduation gift for me :) :) lol. I would be flyin' high!!
Well, Jon moved back in this last week, I guess tonight marks his first night actually back, I only know this because he just scared my by trying to open the back door which I had already locked for the night! I guess this is something that I'll have to get used to again.
We finally got some storms today, as usual, I was in awe of God's incredible power!! I'm glad that I grew out of my mother's fear of storms, now my kids have MY amazement of them. Even this evening, D came to me and said that he's glad that he's not scared of storms anymore. I guess they do listen to me once in a while. I hope that in their true time of need that they'll find it in them to reflect back on converstations that we've had and make the right decisions. Either way, I'll love them no matter what, they're my world!
Ok, that was just a bit annoying, a bug just decided to carry out a suicide mission by flying onto my puter screen....I say suicide mission not for the fact that he's actually on my screen, but by the fact that I'm gonna kill it for bugging me....HA, get it, bug...bugging me...*snickers* oh boy, I think I'm tired.
I have to say that I really enjoy listening to music. I asked a friend today who is going blind, if he had the choice, would he prefer going blind or going deaf. I honestly can't say that I remember his reply but I've ran this question through my head many times. It's truely a hard choice to make, if you give up your sight there are so many things you would miss out on. In the same respect, if you lost your hearing, you would miss hearing someone's voice, or music....I don't know if I could handle that. Never hearing the words, "I Love You" or to even hear your name called out again. I pray that it's a choice I never have to make or a situation that I have to get through. I know that music would be one thing that I would surely miss!
I guess I've babbled in here long enough. I just have to hope that I remember that I have to be at the school in the morning for an Honors program, they're honoring the volunteers that helped out through the year in the kids' classes. I guess I fall into that category since I received an invitation :) It's first thing in the morning, meaning 8:30 and for those of you that know me well, lol, you know that my routine since I got out of school has been to go back to bed after taking the kids to school and not get up till about 10. Well, not tomorrow! I'll just be a zombie for the better part of the day, lol.

Y'all have a great night. Take care and be safe.
Love ya :)

In the Heat of the Night

Wow, was it me that was just longing for warmer nights? lol...well, they're here!! At this moment in time, 10:39 pm, it is 82 degrees in my house and somebody has closed the front door shutting the cool breeze outside.
I felt empty for most of the day today, I guess it was just one of those days. I feel a little better now, other than the heat.
Alex finally got to go up to the new WalMart, he was very happy to finally get there. He worked for his dad and earned some money and I guess it was burning a hole in his pocket! He did really well though, bought himself some new shirts, shorts, socks (undies), and a watch, he was quite proud of himself as was I. It makes the feminin parental unit happy to see such responsible choices being made :) I on the other hand made some selfish purchases, lol. I just HAD to have the soundtrack to the Phantom of the Opera!! I listened to it as soon as I got home, IT IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! Had to have this cute anklet too, it matches my other 2 perfectly. My other 2 are both Figaro links, one is silver and one is gold. The new one is also a Figaro link, but it's a combination of Silver AND Gold!! Too cool! Except, it's only a gold overlay, not 14 K, but that's ok. I think I'll live ;) We also purchased more S'more making products for the bon-fire we're planning for Tuesday night. I hope the weather holds out for it though, it's supposed to rain and storm sometime that night. Cross your fingers! Oh yeah, and I also got some cute little trial size shampoo and conditioners and mousse for my trip.....WOO HOOO, yes, my trip to Tampa! I leave in 11 days.
Well, I guess I have to get going.

Y'all have a great night,
Love ya :)

To Be A Bird

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a bird? The freedom to fly where you want whenever you want...to be free of the earth's gravity. I wish I had the freedom to fly whenever I wanted to....(lol, I guess I could if I had the money for plane tickets) but I'm sure y'all know what I mean. Do you think birds ever wonder what it's like to be human? Nahhhhhh, me either!!!!!
Our Protector
-------------------
With majestic wings spread,
you soar through the sky.
Ever watching, ever keeping,
From morning through nigh.
To watch and protect,
a selfless act that you do.
Our Country, our great Eagle,
We're indebted to you.
God hold still the breeze under your wings,
and keep you in His care.
For with you on this day,
goes all of our prayers.
There, with that done, I hope everyone can take a moment now and then and say a prayer for the soldiers that aren't home with their loved ones because they're fighting for the freedom others and for justice. God Speed.
It's been a meloncholy kind of day...wishing wishes, hoping hopes, and dreaming dreams. I long for warm nights. I wish I were brave enough to go for walks at night, but I'm afraid that I'm a little too whimpy for that, lol. I guess it's that little bunny that could be stalking me around the corner ;) (Hey, they can be scary with those twitchy little noses ya know!!)
I'm hungry, and as luck would have it, Emily decided upon herself to cook supper tonight :) so, on that little bit of info, I'm gonna stop here and go "try" to eat something.
Y'all take care and God Bless!
Love Ya :)
