Cafe' Mocha Frappe'....

....and I don't even drink coffee! Well, in all honesty, I didn't drink the frappe' either! I did, however, make one for the first time ever today!! Yay for me! Ben and Jon were trying to make one the other night and from the comments I heard from them as they were drinking their concotion, discecting it the whole time, I thought it safe to assume that they didn't get it quite right. Well, I took a trip to the grocery store and got the espresso coffee and a couple of other ingrediants and set home to try to make one of these myself. I get home and dig out the coffee maker....Ummm, yes, I know I said I don't drink coffee, but these are also handy for making hot water for cocoa!....not to mention it was a gift from my brother 20 some years ago....so, back to it..I put the coffee filter in..added what seemed to be the right amount of coffee to make a good strong batch. 3 minutes later I had coffee, I put a small amount of it in the freezer to chill it so that I could make some right away. Em's smoothie maker was STILL on the counter where the boys had left it from their previous 'experiment', so I quickly set do making a frappe'. I got it done and wanted to take it to Ben to try...of course, he was IN THE SHOWER! I don't really know the shelf life of a frappe' so I just left it in the blender and waited...and waited...and...OH, finally done in the shower! I poured it, put whipped cream on the top, drizzled with chocolate syrup and then stuck the straw in. I was rather proud of myself..now, would it pass the taste test? :) It did!! Not bad for a non-coffee drinking cafe' mocha frappe' maker, eh!!! Now I have to see if it'll pass Jon's taste test.

Little League season has almost come to an end..can you see the disappointment in my typing *sigh* I thought you could...NOT!!!...don't get me wrong, I love my kids being able to do these things, I just hate the politics, especially when the coaches have a kid that's on the same team. That's all I'll say on this subject! Em on the other hand has just started summer softball. She's going to be missing a lot of games though this week because she's been gone and going to be gone for at least 3-4 double header games. Between basketball camp at UofM and CMU, she's also going to the Big Ticket Festival up in Gaylord. I think there's about 60 people from our church that headed up there this morning. I hope they're blessed by His word in music and I hope they get blessed with better weather than is being forecasted for the weekend.

Garage sale season is in full swing, I went to my first one today. I felt a little ambitious and purchased all of Shakespeare's works in one book. We'll see how far I get in that this summer. Since the start of summer, I've already read 5 books. I have a pile left to get through.

I guess it's time to make another frappe', so I'll be stopping for now and catch up the summer so far a little later.

Y'all enjoy the weather!
Love ya :)

I see cupcakes.....still

Yes, believe it, it's me! Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know..it's been forever, and then some. I suppose I could have posted soon, but hey, why not save it for a little while, eh!

It's been a very, very busy time lately;
#1) Baseball/Softball
#2) Track (more to come on this)
#3) Little League
#4) GRADUATION!!!!

As usual, sports play a big role in our household, I'm sure anyone that keeps up with my blog knows this simple fact. Spring events are no exception! I don't think Alex enjoyed his final year of baseball, I don't think I'll go into that at all! I'm not sure if Em really enjoyed softball either. I KNOW Alex didn't enjoy track, however, Emily did :). Em had a great season this year as far as the field events went...she usually placed in the top 3, but usually took the gold! She broke the school record this year in shot put and qualified for State competition!! Since she won gold, she also qualified for the Sunrise Meet of Champions, she came home with a 3rd place win from there! I am so VERY proud of her this year! (well yeah, I'm always proud of her, but, you know what I mean!)

The second of my 5 child_units graduated this past Friday, he was 6th in his class :) Before he left for the commencement, he asked me if I was going to cry...I simply replied, "Probably", what more could I say? When the music started and the first of the Seniors started to walk down the aisle, I smiled at each of them, took a few pics and waited....seeing that he was finally getting his turn to take that long...slow...walk, I got my camera poised and zoomed in....oh wait...the viewer is a little blurry, is it dirty? Ummm, no...that would be my eyes leaking! Yeah...so what...it's my prerogative to cry...OK...so sue me! The ceremony went very well and fairly quickly too! He ended up getting a scholarship too! Yay!

Of course, when there's a graduation, there's a graduation party! Yup, cooking, baking, stressing....it's all familiar territory. The ensuing days, all 2 of them, consisted of baking, baking and more baking. I did some cooking too. Not sure, but I think I ended up making; 12 doz. monster cookies, 6 doz. snickerdoodles, 3 doz. choc. chip, 4 doz. white chip choc. cookies, 6 doz. Oatmeal raisin, and 4 doz. Oatmeal butterscotch. Next on the agenda was cupcakes; Red velvet, banana, double chocolate malted milk, pumpkin, and white w/ raspberry filling. I put my ma to work cleaning strawberries for strawberry shortcake. I think she cleaned 15 lbs. There were other things, but I think you can get a pretty good idea how tired I was by the end of the party! Actually, there's still some boxes in my kitchen that need to be sorted through and put away. *sigh*

2 more days of school and then my job as "Summer activity director" begins. I'm really not sure I'm looking forward to the whining of having "nothing to doooooooooooo", it's not for the lack of suggestions either...hmmm, I guess I'll have to be creative.

If I don't go to the living room, there may be a mutiny, I guess watching "Days of Our Lives" is more important than blogging right now. I suppose I can finish my thoughts another day soon.

Y'all have a creative moment,
Love Ya :)
